Proven Academics

Offering quality academics is just as important to us as shepherding the hearts of our students. Contributing to the academic success of our students are our small class sizes and dedicated teachers as well as careful selection of curriculum. BRCA uses curriculum from a variety of publishers in order to offer instruction designed to meet our educational goals and philosophies.

In the elementary grades, we emphasize a firm educational foundation by offering phonics-based reading and spelling, early introduction and practice of grammar concepts, and spiraling mathematics instruction with frequent math fact drills. Also, the manner in which our Bible and history lessons are taught give our students an appreciation of how God has moved through people, time and places.

As students progress through the school, there is an increased emphasis on critical, strategic, and logical thinking skills. Beginning in 8th grade, qualified students may take courses for high school Carnegie unit credit. Honors and Advanced Placement classes are among our current and planned offerings. Since our school is conveniently located just 3 miles from North Greenville University, we look forward to our students having the opportunity to take classes for dual accreditation during their Senior year.

The result - BRCA students achieve academic success. One of the ways we measure our students’ progress is through the Stanford Achievement Test. The results show that 95% of 2nd - 8th graders scored above the state and national average and 54% were in the top quartile on the 2008 Stanford Achievement Test. Our older students participate in the ACT EXPLORE and PLAN tests, the PSAT, the ACT and the SAT as well as Advanced Placement (AP) Exams, as applicable.

Furthermore, our students do well in area Spelling Bees, Math Olympics, and Creative Writing competitions. Sixty-two percent of our seventh graders took the ACT in 2008 in participation with Duke TIP (Talent Identification Program).
