Ms. Parrish's first grade class received a wonderful gift from a very special visitor on Friday. Mr. Hanson, Jude Aho's grandfather, made two new bookshelves for his grandson's classroom. The first grade students were buzzing with excitement as they inspected the new shelves. Mr. Hanson told the curious students about how he made the shelves out of wood left over from building a house. The first graders also enjoyed the story that Mr. Hanson shared with them a story about Tom Sawyer.
Early in the school year Marianne Parrish and Jude's mom, Melodie, were talking about the best place to buy bookshelves. A few days later Jude's mom called Ms. Parrish and told her to stop looking for shelves. A few weeks later the Aho family delivered the new bookshelves that were custom fitted to the classroom.
Ms. Parrish was delighted with her new shelves, "They are just perfect! I can't believe how nice they are!" she repeated through out the morning.
