BRCA Volleyball Defeats Calvary Christian

volleyball_1.jpgBlue Ridge Christian Academy opened their volleyball season Friday evening against Calvary Christian.
The game marked the Warrior's debut of their second season. Rebecca Madrid returns this year as head coach with Athletic Director,
Lisa Huskey helping as the assistant coach.   Thirteen girls, seventh grade to eleventh grade, make up the Varsity and JV teams.

The BRCA varsity team dominated the floor for the first two matches against Calvary, winning them 25 to 16 and 25 to 14.  The Warriors let the third match slip from their grasp with a close 24 to 26 loss.  The girls rallied in the fourth match to take home the win with at 25 to 20 score.

Prior to the game, Assistant Coach Lisa Huskey was optimistic about the opening match-up with Calvary.  "The girls have really worked hard and are well prepared for the game.  Since there are existing relationships between the teams, it should make the match a little more intense."  Huskey predicted correctly; the atmosphere of the game was intense.  A mini pep rally held for the volleyball and cross country teams earlier in the school day had players, students, and teachers energized and ready for the game.  The Warrior Spirit echoed through the gym as fans cheered the girls to victory!

Head Coach Rebecca Madrid is excited to see how much her team has improved since last year. "We are a much stronger team this year.  The girls have grown and become more competitive and aggressive.  Their tighter bond has enabled them to communicate better on the court this year."

Congratulations to the Warriors on their first win of the season!
